The Mountains surrounding Linville Falls Mountain Club and the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area provide unexpected beauty at your doorstep. Formed by the Linville River that begins atop Grandfather Mountain, this wilderness has been untouched since the early 1900s.

The New River offers peaceful canoeing trips while the Watauga River provides whitewater rafting and kayaking. Stop by Roan Mountain State Park and view the largest natural rhododendron garden in bloom.
The spectacular Linville Gorge offers 39 miles of trails and camping for families or the great outdoorsman. Wilson Creek and Lost Cove offer another 25 miles of trails wandering through the deep valleys and gorges of the Pisgah National Forest.
The North Carolina Mountains-to-the-Sea Trail runs through McDowell County and the Great Smoky Mountains. A few minutes away, it traverses through Pisgah National Forest along the Blue Ridge Parkway and over Table Rock within the Linville Gorge.

The historic downtowns of Marion and Old Fort include bookstores, home and antique shops, art galleries, museums, restaurants, coffee houses and markets full of local flowers and artisan works.
Little Switzerland is a fun way to spend a day, just 15 minutes from Linville Falls off the Blue Ridge Parkway. You’ll find boutiques, children’s shops, a bookstore, arts and crafts, jewelry and more.
