Golf

Nestled in the upper reaches of the picturesque North Cove of McDowell County, the Lee Trevino inspired Linville Falls golf course provides elevated tee boxes and open fairways without steep mountain-golf grades. Fairways meander through a hardwood forest, over numerous creeks and the North Fork of the Catawba River. The inspiring views of the Linville Mountain range and Humpback Mountain, rock outcroppings and the sounds of rushing water, make for an exhilarating experience that you will want to play again. It’s a gem among western nc golf courses, for sure!

Catawba Chimney

Light a fire under the stars and celebrate the cool mountain air with friends and family. The Catawba Chimney park, dedicated by Bob Timberlake, is a great spot to rest a peace, read a book surrounded by nature, the smell of wood smoke, embraced by a hardwood forest.

Catawba River

The North Fork of the Catawba has its headwaters on Humpback Mountain right below the Blue Ridge Parkway, not far from the Mountain Club. The water runs parallel to and below the western ridge of the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area and right through the Linville Falls Golf Course, eventually flowing into Lake James. The river has both wild trout water and delayed harvest designations for rainbows and brown trout. Great river opportunities surround you at Linville Falls Mountain Club
