Little Switzerland is a fun way to spend a day, just 15 minutes from Linville Falls off the Blue Ridge Parkway. You'll find boutiques, children's shops, a bookstore, arts and crafts, jewelry and more.
Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk are clustered together just a few more minutes up Hwy 221. The peaceful, storybook villages of Blowing Rock and Banner Elk are perfect for perusing antique stores, bookstores, art galleries and gift shops.
Boone is the home of Appalachian State University and a relaxed bohemian culture. Visit the Mast General Store, the Dan'l Boone Inn, or one of the many distinct restaurants and shops.
Just under an hour west of Linville Falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville is one of the top tourism spots on the east coast. With a community dedicated to arts, culture and the environment, Asheville's downtown and historic Biltmore Village are a shopper's paradise.
